Splash Car Wash Celebrates 30 Years of Business
Keeping with tradition of its community-centric business practices,
company marks milestone by giving back to customers
STAMFORD, CT, MAY 2011 -- Splash Car Wash, which operates 17 locations throughout New Haven, Fairfield and Upper Westchester, NY counties, is marking 30 years of business this May. Founders Mark Curtis and Chris Fisher opened their first location in 1981 in Greenwich, where they later developed Splash’s innovative concept for washing cars by hand while they moved through the tunnel on conveyor. The overwhelming response to this new hand wash concept became the catalyst for the company’s growth.
Splash currently employs more than 500 people and washes more than one million cars each year. To mark the company’s long-time presence and show appreciation for customers within each community it serves, Splash is hosting six weeks of promotions and specials, running May 1 through June 12. Each week, one customer will win free washes for life and every customer visiting during a location’s designated celebration week will automatically receive discounted wash coupons or other prizes.
In addition to giving back to customers, Splash Car Wash has maintained a commitment to give back to each community it serves. Since its first fundraising event in 1985, Splash has raised more than 1.5 million dollars for many local organizations, charities and associations throughout Connecticut and New York. Splash responds to requests from more than 400 charitable organizations each year and has worked with many of them for more than a decade. Benefit organizations include Kids in Crisis in Cos Cob, DARE in Bedford Hills, Clasp Homes in Norwalk and Operation Hope In Fairfield.
“It’s important for us to be part of every community we serve, that has been a hallmark of every Splash site for the past 30 years,” said company co-founder and CEO Mark Curtis.
Another cornerstone of the company philosophy revolves around treating employees well and retaining reliable and friendly staff at each location. Splash prides itself on hiring, training and retaining quality car wash employees.
“We treat our employees with the respect and care that we want them to give to our customers. Many of our employees have been with us for 5, 10 years, or even 20 years,” added Curtis.
Recognized by Professional Car Wash & Detailing magazine as one of the ten best car washes in the US, Splash has received numerous national awards and honors including the US Chamber of Commerce’s National Blue Chip Enterprise Award.
