Splash Gives to Jennings School

Splash Car Wash Event Benefits Jennings Elementary School in Fairfield

Students Dive in to Make Their Annual Fundraiser Quite a Splash!

Fifth grade students from Jennings Elementary School in Fairfield saw first hand and up close what it takes to work at a car wash on November 8th, 2009, when the well-known local business teamed up with the school for a fundraising event.

The car wash, which takes place every year in the Fall, had a different venue this year, thanks to Splash and chairperson for the event, Gina Zdru, a Jennings’ mom, assisted by Melissa DeMartin and Geraldine Russell, also Jennings’ moms. The event aims to raise money to help fund the fifth grade graduation ceremony and to make moving up activities extra special for the hard-working students.

This year, the annual bake sale was held at Splash. Manning the in-store bakery was Melanie Iacurci, a 5th grade parent, with the help from Maddie Russell and Olivia Diaz, both fifth grade students at Jennings. All items were baked by the 5th grade Jennings Parents. Gina Zdru would like to thank each and every one of them for baking such delicious baked goods. The bake sale also included the choice of hot Chocolate or coffee donated by Geraldine & Jonathan Russell. Maddie & Liam Russell and their cousins, Brian, Paul and Mark Russell all helped to make it a great success.

Also in charge of all the facepainting and Tattooing was Maria & Nicole Nordle & Ariel Unger, all middle school students & Michelle Gibson, a high school student.

There time, artistic methods and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated.

Outside, a group of enthusiastic fifth graders, including Chloe Syarto, Madeline & Michael John DeMartin, Emily, Nicholas and Richard Zdru, Geno & Angie Iacurci, Kalista & Peter Hainsworth, Mark Warner, Natalie & Adam Held, Mike Walsh, Ali Haidar, Anya Mullins, Emily Pisani, Alexa Montani, Alias Weglarz, Lindsey Faria, Tommy O'Connell, Isabelle & Sarah Radziewicz used their youthful voices and energy to get the attention of passing cars, cheering them to come in to get their cars washed. Even Mr. Curesky, one of the 5th grade teachers, put his voice out there and held up a sign or two.

Newly appointed Chairperson of the car wash fundraiser, Gina Zdru, says:

"We are delighted to partner with Splash…businesses in Fairfield understand the importance of supporting our excellent school system, and to help kids learn the value of work,” Mrs. Zdru said. “We hope to have a successful event like this next year, as well.” Gina would also like to thank Party City, Black Rock Tnpk in Fairfield for donating all the balloons and Olympia Foto, Post Rd in Fairfield for laminating all the "Splash" signs.

“We were only too happy to partner with Gina and her team. They and the kids really worked hard to make the day a success.” Added Mark Curtis, CEO of Splash Car Wash. Splash assists over 400 organizations each year with their fundraising programs.
